Social Media Is Dead. Connection Isn’t.

This morning, a headline stopped me mid-scroll: “Social Media is Dead. Interest Media is Here.” Gary Vaynerchuk first published it in March and shared it again on LinkedIn yesterday. Seven months later, his words feel more relevant than ever.

His point is simple and powerful. Our feeds aren’t simply showing us the people we follow anymore. They’re showing us whatever holds our attention, and algorithms are learning exactly what keeps us watching. Gary predicts a “double-feed” future: one feed for discovery, and one for the people we choose.

That second feed is what stopped me. Because we have spent years building a place for exactly that.

Somewhere along the way, our people got lost in the noise. I know more about strangers’ vacations than my own friends’ Tuesdays. A birthday dinner, a new puppy, Grandma’s 92nd birthday. Those moments might not entertain millions, but they mean the world to the people who love you. I don’t think we stopped caring about each other. I think we stopped seeing each other.

Cliick is our answer. It’s a private communication app built around real relationships and mutual invitations. No ads. No algorithm deciding whose posts you see. No strangers filling your feed. You create private spaces, called Cliicks, for the different parts of your life: your family, your oldest friends, your book club, your pickleball crew. Imagine if every post was from someone you actually know.

And here’s something I love. Cliick doesn’t want your whole evening. Open it, see your best friend’s vacation and your cousin’s funny story, and you’re caught up in minutes. No endless stream of suggested content. Nothing pushed at you. Maybe you share a photo of the ridiculous dinner you just made for your mom. Then you put your phone down. Take the dog on a long walk. Finally finish that book. Go to bed on time. And feel good about it.

We believe technology should add something meaningful to your day, not compete for every minute of it. Why do we need an algorithm deciding which friends and family we get to see?

Cliick is live. And we’re so happy to finally share it with you. Start a Cliick with five people you love, then keep building, a few favorite people at a time, across the different circles of your life. You don’t have to bring everyone at once. Just bring your people.

And because Halloween is almost here, I can’t resist one last thought. While the internet holds a funeral for social media, we’re throwing a housewarming party. A small one, at your house. Not everyone knows each other, but everyone knows the host.

Social media may have changed. But our need for connection hasn’t.

We think you’re going to love the difference.

With love,
Nina
